Basket Weaving in Maun

On Monday, we visited a local women's basket weaving cooperative in town. We took lessons on basket weaving and by the end of the day had our own hand-made baskets to take home with us. While here, we also learned about the veld products used for basket production and the significance of some different weaving patterns.

Ben and his basket.

Melissa with her almost-finished basket.

Everyone focused on weaving.

  1. Alright I saw somebody wearing this and I need to make it... I don't realize what you call it, so I will portray it! Envision a bit of fabric with a square opening remove in the center. over the gap there is a "bushel weave" of little portions of fabric, making breathing gaps. I've seen beautifications like this on sun dresses and child transporters. Any thought of what you may call it, or in the event that somebody knows of an example or guideline, that eventual SUPER! Much appreciated! personal statement for job application
