We've returned from our four nights spent in the Okavango Delta. While there we explored the wetland ecosystems of the delta and had some extraordinary wildlife sightings including lions, elephants, hippos, leopards, giraffes, and much more.
We are spending our last few days until July 9th (when the program ends) at Kitso Camp in Maun. We have several things planned including a boat cruise, a braai (barbecue) for the 4th of July, visiting a local basket weaving association, and several guest lectures by local researchers on various topics from environmental monitoring to ecotourism.
Our campsite was situated under a large rain tree on the banks of the Khwai River.
We got to watch elephants playing in the water, a rare sighting for this time of year.
A large hippo posing for us in the sunlight.
A young female leopard hiding out under a fallen tree.
Taking photos of hippos in the water.
Lounging in the sun.
Stopped for a break under an iconic Acacia tortillis tree.
